[Mostly] Wordless Wednesday

IMG_2515.jpg

L.(5) is a bit of a puzzler. He gets a magazine from Highlights called Puzzle Buzz and is always so very excited when the newest issue arrives. He particularly loves the hidden picture puzzles, and will often curl up next to me on the couch so we can do them together. But just as often, I’ll find him hidden away somewhere in the house, carefully studying the pages and solving the puzzles. With a mom (and a grandmother or two) who are also big fans of puzzles, I guess it’s to be expected.

I love coming across these quiet moments of concentration.

Wordless Wednesday — Lego Missions

IMG_2338.jpg

…because sometimes, all the Lego men and women have to embark on dangerous missions that involve balancing on a steel beam, far above the earth. I’m not sure what they have to do there, but I’m sure it’s very important.

Wordless Wednesday: Marble Games

Non-wordless note: Yesterday was a rainy day, so I brought out some marble contraption-building sets that I had bought months ago to save for just such a day. L.(5) spent a huge portion of yesterday playing with the freeform-type set on our magnetic front door. C.(12) and I built the complicated machinery-type set. Both are proving to be tremendous fun, especially for L. I have a feeling I’ll be finding marbles under random pieces of furniture for a long time to come.

Five (Wordless Wednesday)

Guess who turns five today?

Happy Birthday to my sweet L.!

“Four” has been a wonderful year, full of milestones and learning and laughter and fun.

I can’t wait to see what “Five” brings us.

I love you, L.!

Frisbee Lessons

Not-so-wordless note:

I snapped this picture last week and love it for a couple reasons:

1. Both kids were incredibly serious about these frisbee lessons. C.(12) was determined to impart his frisbee wisdom to his little brother and L. (4) was intent on completing the ‘drills’ and advancing to the next ‘level’ of lessons.

2. Anytime the kids are playing happily together, with absolutely no fighting or yelling, is a good moment to capture.

3. Do you see that sunshine? Yeah, haven’t seen that in a while. Much of the last week or so has been gray, dreary, and rainy. And the weatherman tells me that today holds more of the same. Hoping the sun decides to visit again soon, because I sure could use some happy weather.
