CD Giveaway: Matthew West

Read your Bible
Say your prayers
Go to church
Teach your children about God
Encourage others
Tell the truth
Etc. Etc. Etc.

As a Christian, these are things I know I should do. They’re things I want to do. And I try.

But I have to admit that sometimes, even when I’m doing those things, even when — from all outward appearances — it looks like I’m doing a decent job in this whole Christian walk thing, I’m really just going through the motions.

Outwardly, it looks good. But inside, I’m distracted. Or self-absorbed. Or exhausted. Or apathetic.

And it’s during those times that I really need a wake-up call. God is faithful to remind me that a relationship with Him — a life with Him — is more than outward actions and half-hearted efforts. He uses a variety of methods to get my attention, to call me back to a realization that I want to serve Him with more than just my hands and feet. He graciously inspires me to want to serve Him with all that I am. [Read more...]

CD Giveaway: Faith, Hope, & Lullabies

With my youngest son, L., now being three years old, I can no longer claim to have a “baby” in the house. While he still enjoys a cuddle in the rocking chair on a regular basis, our days of blankets and lullabies are fading.

However, that didn’t stop me from quickly accepting an offer to check out two new CDs –  Faith, Hope, & Lullabies and Faith, Hope, & Lullabies: Songs of Worship.  Call it a touch of nostalgia, if you will. Or maybe it’s just the fact that a mom of a loud busy 3-year-old might have just as much need for peaceful, relaxing music as a new baby does. [Read more...]

CD Giveaway: Hello Love

When the folks from EMI Christian Music Group asked me if I would like to check out Chris Tomlin‘s new CD, Hello Love, I didn’t have to think twice before answering, “Yes!” I discovered Chris Tomlin a few years ago and his albums quickly became part of my iPod’s “Favorites” playlist. He offers contemporary-style worship songs that work for me as both attitude-adjusters and day-brighteners.

This new CD is no different. Every song on Hello Love demonstrates Chris’s love for God. Some are upbeat, some more meditative, but each one is based on the truth of scripture and has a way of pointing my heart in the right direction.

To give you just a taste of this fantastic new CD, I’m including a little Hello Love player, which includes four songs from the album. Just click play to check it out.

And, of course, what would a review be without a giveaway? EMI has offered to send one of my readers a copy of Hello Love. To enter the drawing, just leave a comment on this post (being sure that you include an easy way for me to contact you). I’ll choose a winner Wednesday night and announce that winner this Thursday. U.S. & Canada addresses only, please.

Music Giveaway: Josh Wilson

Okay, I decided that one giveaway today simply wasn’t enough, so I’m also giving away a CD. Read on to learn more!

I don’t know about you, but some CDs just remind me of summer. As soon as I put them in, they make me want to hop in the car, put the windows down and go cruising on Main Street run some important family errands.

That’s how I felt the first time I listened to the debut CD by Josh Wilson, Trying to Fit the Ocean in a Cup. Full of fresh, fun pop/rock songs, this CD had me singing along by my second time through. But it’s not just about the fun — these songs also have depth, and I loved the emphasis he put on our need for God.

Curious? Trying to Fit the Ocean in a Cup hits stores next week, April 29th. In the meantime, check out the nifty widget below to get a taste of Josh’s music (I really like 3 Minute Song).

AND, I’m offering one copy of the CD free to one of you! Just leave a comment on this post between now and Saturday, and I’ll announce the winner (to be chosen randomly) on Sunday.
