Yarn

I don’t remember the last time I knitted something. I’ve only completed a few knitting projects ever (being a long-time crocheter and only a recent knitter), but it’s been a while since I did those — I’m guessing about two years?

But for some reason, today I was struck with a desire to knit. So while L(4) was at preschool this  morning, I zipped over to the yarn shop across the street and found a few skeins to add to my stash.

Maybe it’s because the meteorologists are forecasting a “significant accumulation of snow” over the next couple days. I think part of me is drawn to the idea of hibernating with a pile of yarn, some bamboo needles and a quick project or two.

And coffee, of course. And a good book for when my cramping fingers need a little break.

Now I just have to re-teach myself exactly how to do a knit stitch and a purl stitch. I told you it’s been a while…

I often take long breaks from knitting and usually don’t have too much trouble starting up again. I’m sure it’ll all come back to you once you start. If not, I’m sure you can find a few quick tutorials on YouTube to refresh your memory. Have fun! Knitting rocks.

I am a new knitter, and I love it!! I never thought I would be able to learn. Snow does bring the knitting urge out in people I am sure. I have to agree with other commentors, google and youtube and knit.com have saved me many a night when it was too late to call one of my knitting friends for help.
Have fun, enjoy the snow and stay warm! (we are getting some snow tomorrow night but it is supposed to melt by the next day–boo!)

  5. They LOOK beautiful just as is :) That’s probably as far as I’d get — the buying and the admiring.

Oh, I am a new knitter too, and LOVE it when I have the time to sit with my needles & yarn! Just tonight, when I couldn’t find a hat at Target to go with my new coat, I thought about hitting the yarn shop this week! Have fun.

  7. See, I love looking at rolls of yarn – just like you have pictured here.

And that is where it stops for me. =D But it’s so pretty!

You’ve collected some lovely colors to get started. I was away from knitting for many years. It was easy to pick back up and now I just can’t stop. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

  9. I am also a newer knitter {about 6 months or so} and I LOVE it! I want to knit sweaters and socks and hats, mittens, and gloves! :) I tend to get a ;ittle excited when someone mentions knitting!
Enjoy “re-learning” such a fun and relaxing craft!

I love to knit too. The idea of a snow day spent knitting and drinking tea sounds heavenly. What are you going to make?

When I get stressed, that’s where my thoughts turn – to knitting and crochet. For some reason, pouring over a pattern is just the distraction I need to calm my nerves. Good luck with your projects!

  15. oo love those yarns!! You will have to post your finished product! :-)
