It’s time for the monthly “What’s on Your Nightstand” carnival sponsored by 5 Minutes for Books.
At the moment, there is only one book on my nightstand. And to be honest, it’s in my hands more than on my nightstand.
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
I’m not sure why I even have this book already. Amazon.com still had it listed as a pre-order as late as yesterday. Bookstores promise to have it in stock today, the 24th. And the pre-order I placed with Amazon told me not to expect the book until August 26th.
And yet, it arrived in my mailbox on Saturday. Three full days before its official release.
Perhaps someone at Amazon read my Things I’m Waiting For post, and sneakily got my copy in the mail a few days early. Or maybe a number of people have been pleasantly surprised by receiving Mockingjay early. Or perhaps there was just a random mix-up.
Either way, I’m about 200 pages into it and will likely finish it before the end of the day. Since Sunday, I’ve been reading as often as I can, in between things like church, meals, errands, and get-togethers with friends.
Mockingjay is just as absorbing as the previous books in the trilogy (Hunger Games and Catching Fire). I’d tell you more, but I have to get back to reading. Must find out how things end for Katniss, Gale, & Peeta.

Oh I am beyond jealous that you are reading this already. I’m not sure when we’ll get a copy of this one as we’ll probably be relying on the library (haha good luck to us!) but we’re anxious to read it! Enjoy!
Mine should be here today! As of 6am it was “out for delivery.” I’m letting Amanda read it first, but with nothing on the agenda today, I think that she could either finish it today or come darn close!
I honestly can’t decide if I’m “Team Gale” “Team Peeta” or “Team Katniss.” I think I’ll know when I read it. I’ll either be satisfied or disappointed.

I have to get to the store to today and purchase this for my daughter she has anxiously been awaiting its release. I’ve heard over and over how wonderful these books are… just have decided it I want to read them, maybe one day.
It sounds like half the world is having fun with this title. I’m going to have to play some catch up here!

I’ve been informed now by a couple of friendly fellow readers that this is the last in the series–so as soon as the buzz dies down a bit and I can manage to get it at my library, I’ll be ready to start in from the beginning. Yippee! After hearing so many great reviews of Hunger Games, I was starting to question whether I could wait until the series was finished to begin. But now the time has arrived!
Holy COW!! I can’t believe you got it so early! I was thrilled when my copy arrived on my doorstep at 1:51 PM today. I’m anticipating that I will be sacrificing sleep tonight to get to the end.

I guess you already know how envious I am seeing as how amazon’s estimated delivery date for my copy of “Mockingjay” isn’t until the TWENTY SEVENTH!
