Five of my favorite things from this week
1. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. I watched this movie (via Netflix streaming on our Wii — love that!) Monday night with the kids. Then Wednesday night, C. & Chad watched it and I joined them for the second half. Thoroughly enjoyable. Goofy enough to make the four-year-old laugh until he couldn’t breathe. Bizarre enough to crack up the 11-year-old. Repeatedly. And not annoying-for-grownups as some kids’ movies can be. Definitely a fun family movie.
2. A husband who spoils me. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but my husband is really too nice to me. I don’t deserve all the ways (little and big) that he spoils me, but I’m thankful just the same. He’s an incredible husband and a great dad. Love you, Chad!
3. Finally making progress on my SRT ’10 list. After a spring full of spurts and stumbles, stops and starts, I finally got on track with my spring reading. Only about half a book to go! Will I finish before Sunday night? We’ll see… I’m hopeful, but not making any promises.
4. A big kid who keeps learning. C. (11) is keeping busy this summer. This week, he started golf lessons. He’s been golfing for a couple years now — nothing too intense or serious, but he enjoys several golf outings with his Dad and Grammy each summer. And we thought this year, it might be a good idea for him to take a few lessons, get a few pointers from a pro. His instructor is an incredibly nice man — very encouraging, but full of practical tips and helpful hints. C. thoroughly enjoyed his first lesson and is looking forward to the next one.
Also, C. has taken it upon himself to go through the Drive-Through History: America, Foundations of Character curriculum kit this summer. On his own. I am not a history buff, but C. takes after his dad and really enjoys it. So he’s working through the DVD and lesson book, learning lots about our country’s beginnings. I love that he loves learning new things!
5. Buzz cuts on little boys. L. (4) did not want a buzz cut, yet I insisted. He gets SO sweaty every time he plays outside, and I’m sure he’ll appreciate being a bit cooler for the next few weeks. He’s still not convinced, but I think it’s cute.

Love L’s new hair cut – he just makes me smile when I see him each time. We love that movie as well. G named one of our new snails “steve” after the monkey in the movie. Enjoy your weekend
Haven’t seen the movie, but loved the book. I’ll have to watch. I have a husband who spoils me, too–aren’t they the best!
I’ve watched 2 of the Drive Thru History DVD’s and always learn so much. Buzz cuts are great. My big boy husband still wears one.
I suggested the movie to my family–especially because my son and I had so much fun with the book–but we haven’t seen it yet.
That Drive-Thru History curriculum is great! I thoroughly enjoyed the videos. And good for C for taking the initiative to do it on his own!
L’s haircut is adorable. Is he too old to like being called that?

We love Cloudy w/a Chance of Meatballs! It is so much fun and a pretty good lesson.
We have a Drive Through History but haven’t watched it yet.
The haircut looks great. Sometimes I wish I could cut my hair like that! And the movie sounds fun – we’ll have to watch it sometime, though it would be just me and hubby. And I’m very impressed with that boy who wants to learn history on his own! You must be inspiring him to love learning, even if it’s not your favorite subject. Have a good week.
We loved that movie. It’s been too long since we read the book to remember how it may differ, but the movie was a lot of fun.
Good for C. for continuing learning this summer!
I’m afraid I’ve never been a fan of buzz cuts, but they do look cooler, and he would be cute with any hairstyle.

Yes, the boy’s summer cut is cute! Kyle’s been wearing his hair longer. He’s getting it cut tomorrow. Not sure what we’ll do, but I just remembered that we are going to be in oh-so-hot TX, so I’m thinking shorter is better.
I loved Cloudy with a Chance of MB too. I forgot about how much I liked it. I was thinking of my Top 5 kids’ movies list, because I was telling the sponsor of the pre-screening of Despicable Me that I saw that it was in my Top 5 Kids’ movies of all time list, I think. I hate lists like that. But it was good. Very very good.

I’ve never seen Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, but you make me want to watch it.
Sounds like a great week.
What a great list! I am totally not going to be able to finish
But thats okay! Love the buzz cut! L has gotten so big since the last picture I saw of him! Sammy would prob love a buzz cut.. but I can’t bring myself to cut his curls!
Aww…it IS cute! Nothing like sweaty little boys (I remember — I have four sons!).
Don’t you love it when they want to learn? Neat.
Hope you upcoming week is just as great.
I used to give our son a buzz cut every summer. I don’t think he liked it either but I always thought he looked so much neater and cooler with his hair cut that way (and it was much cheaper for me to do it myself). Your guy looks very nice with his new cut.
I almost feel guilty being spoiled sometimes, but he still continues to do it.
Buzz cuts, it works when the heat is on.
Love the hair cut! My big boy now loves getting that summer haircut….feels so much better for those sweaty boys!!
Sounds like a fun movie.
My daughter who is 13 is at our local park right now, watching an outdoor movie with friends……..Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs!! Can’t wait to see what she thinks about it!
Love the haircut but love L.’s face even more. LOL.
I have yet to see that movie. I’ll so have to rent it for the dayhome kids.
You can see by the expression that he’s not convinced about the haircut yet! Don’t tell him it really looks cute and so does his expression.
I’ll have to check out the movie–sounds fun.
Good luck on finishing the books. Read on!
