The first thing he said when he came downstairs yesterday morning was, “Is today my birthday?”
He’s been keeping a loose countdown in his head for the past two weeks (“Thirteen days til my birthday!”), and he wasn’t sure if yesterday was THE DAY or not. We had to tell him that no, it was not his birthday, but that in only one more day, his birthday would be here.
“Then I’ll be four!!!”
So today is the day. Today, L. turns four.
I’ve been telling him for the past year that he’s my favorite three-year-old in the whole world. I’ll have to adjust; now he’s my favorite four-year-old. I requested extra hugs and kisses last night, and cuddled a little longer at bedtime. For some reason, I’m reluctant to let go of three.
I’m not sure why I’m feeling so sentimental about this birthday. Maybe for me, four just feels like “not so little.” The toddler stage is long gone. He has a year of preschool under his belt. Every day he seems a little taller, a little smarter, a little braver. Bottom line: he’s growing up.
But I look forward to what this year will bring: new discoveries, new accomplishments, new friends, new adventures. And I’m thankful that I get to be Mom to this precious kid.
Happy Birthday, L. I hope that Four is Fantastic!
Love,
Mom

Happy Birthday L!!
Happy Birthday, L. This one is a biggie! I bet your mom will do lots of things you ask for today.
Happy Birthday!!
I agree that four begins the start of childhood, moving further away from being a baby.
I always forget that his and Kyle’s bdays are so close.

What a sweet post. Send him our wishes as well. Quin’s been talking about his birthday coming up, but he has no concept of time, he just knows he wants Batman on his cake!
Happy Birthday to L !
L, you are absolutely my very favorite 4 year old. I sure love you.
Happy Birthday, L! Wish you have a wonderful year four!
Awwww…L and I share a birthday! My little one turned 2 last Tuesday. Why is it easier for me to turn a year older than to watch my little one turn a year older?

Happy birthday L!
Happy Birthday L. I didn’t realize how much he looks like C now!
Happy Birthday, L! Take up the “You’re my favorite four-year-old” and I’m sure it’ll make for a very hard five. I’m shocked that my daughter will be five at the end of June.
WOW – Happy 4th Birthday – that’s a big one!
Have a great week!
Happy Birthday L!! Three was SO hard for me to let go of as well…I felt like I said goodbye to my baby forever that night…I knew he was still going to be my ‘baby’ forever, but he was no longer little
It was SO hard
(((HUGS))) to you mama!!!

Happy Birthday to the little guy! And I feel like that before birthdays, too, especially when they are yet little.
