It’s hard to believe that we’re already done with one month of fall and, by extension, one month of the Fall Into Reading challenge. Is it just me, or did that month go by pretty quickly?
So…how’s your reading going? Have you been curling up with a book and the warm beverage of your choice very often, so far this fall? Or have deadlines, external stresses, school projects, and just plain busyness gotten in the way of your book-time?
As for me, I think I’m doing pretty well. I’ve completed five of my eleven books (though 2 of them were more than halfway finished when the challenge began, so they don’t entirely count). And I’m knee-deep in three more. Plus, I snuck in one additional book that wasn’t even on my list. So I’d say that — for me — I’ve been reading quite a bit.
One thing I did this time around that has helped is establish a daily page goal. I actually sat down and added up all the pages in the books on my list and divided by 90 days or so. I figured that if I read 30 pages/day, I’d be set. So that’s what I shoot for. Some days I read more, and some…well, far less. (Confession: yesterday, my page total was a measly 2!) I keep track of the number of pages I read every day and I’m averaging out to a little more than 30/day, so I’m well on my way.
I’ve also been sneaking in reading time throughout the day. Typically, I’m a before-bed reader, but I’ve found that in order to keep on top of my page goal, I need to do more than that (since apparently, in my old age, I’m unable to stay awake for a full 30 pages once I’m snuggled under some nice warm covers). So I keep one of my challenge books with me at all times and read a page here and there during the day — while I’m waiting for my coffee to brew, or watching L. (3) run around outside.
I’d love to hear how you’re doing and how you’re managing to squeeze in your reading time this fall!

I’ve finished one of my ten books so far, I need to get a move on with the other nine books!
I’m in the middle of book 7 out of 29, so I need to step it up if I am going to pretend to finish everything on my list. But I’m actually pretty happy with my progress so far.
I’ve been pretty good and have finished 7 of the 9 on my list. All 9 of them were books that have had bookmarks sitting stationary in them for a long time so I’m totally pleased to have knocked them out. Of course, I’ve saved working on the longest one for last so no telling if I’ll actually get through it as well. And I am plugging along on 8 of 9 right now.
So funny to see this … I had started a Fall Into Reading: One Month Update post last night but got distracted by my Phillies winning the NLCS.
I’ve read two books but I haven’t posted my reviews yet. I have another waiting to start.
I’ve read 29 out of 40 books on my official list plus 38 other books…so I’ve read 67 books since the challenge started! And there’s the 24 hour readathon happening this weekend so i’ll be cranking out more for sure!

Well, my list has changed considerably, as I took on a little more review reads than I realized and my 2 holds at the library weren’t renewable. LOL. I just can’t resist some of these review books that are offered.
I am chugging right along! I’ve finished a couple books, added and finished a couple more and am still reading a couple now.
My list may change a bit, but I am reading consistently.
I am not doing as well as I’d like, but I’m still reading / listening to my books. Working on Beautiful Mess by Diamond Rio.

Wow…this month seems to fly pass (for me)…I managed to complete 3 books…my reading have been moving quite slowly. Things are getting ‘tougher’ with my toddler (she’s getting more mischievous & there are some ‘discipline’ issues)…I’m feeling tired (partly due to the pregnancy)…but I enjoy the little time that I have to myself reading a book quietly…yea…!
I got sick, NOT the flu, so I had extra time to read. I have surpassed my goal which feels good, I don’t usually read much during the school year (I teach 4th grade). So I’m glad I signed on for this. Facebook’s bookshelf has caused me to list what I’ve read too, and so I’ve connected with some of my friends there…

I’ve read 7 of my 15, started 2 others, dropped 2, and read an additional 4 that weren’t on my list. I traveled last week so I had two days of long plane rides to get lots of reading done. My pace will slow down for the rest of the challenge.
I am doing terrible.. I have finished 2 books.. but I am way behind on my page count
.. however I have enjoyed all of the books I am reading
That makes me feel a little better!
Unfortunately I have NOT finished any yet, but I am, as you said, knee-deep in a bunch right now. Hopefully I’ll be finishing one or two of them this weekend, as I’ll be taking a day or two off from everything.
I just linked up this week, but I’ve been getting a lot of reading done since the first day of Fall. I’ve finished two books (both started since Sept 22nd) and am about 2/3 through a third book. I’m feeling pretty good about it meeting my goal. Actually, the rest of my books are fairly short, so I may exceed it.

I am doing pretty well. I have read 6 and have 19 more to go– such a newbie to make my goal so high!! But I am going to stick by it and try. I am having such a good time reading at night…I have even been able to pull myself away from the blogosphere and facebook enough to read in the evenings!! This is a fun challenge…the kids are having a great time with their reading and Hubby finished his first book and is moving on to the next one!!
I like how you counted out the pages!! Great Idea!
Have a great weekend!!

I have added two more books to my list and I have read 4 of the 12 books on my list. I’m participating in Dewey’s Read-a-thon this weekend so I may get some more reading done. I am having fun participating so I guess that is all that really matters, right?
I admit that I have not completed my main goal at all!! Which was to bring my daughter to the library once a month. She was sick, then I was sick and it’s been bad news all around at the Yule household.
We are on the mend! So, I’m going to remedy the library situation this Sunday!
Oh lord I’m doing terrible. I think I’m still working on the first book for the challenge but it is a pretty long book and I’m only reading for like 30 minutes before bed these days. Newborn baby and all.
I’m halfway through my third book from the list of nine. I’m pretty pleased since I’m usually not very consistent with my reading time.

I’ve finished 6 out of the 26 on my list plus 2 more that weren’t on my list. Not bad considering my son has been home sick for 4 days with the swine flu so I’ve spent a lot of time tending to him. Leaving for California in two hours so I’m hoping to get some reading time in on the plane. I should finish two books in the next week and I’ve got two waiting on hold at the library that I need to pick up.
I think my reading goals were a bit too lofty, but it doesn’t hurt to try. I’ve still got time!
I’ve finished 3 of the 9 fiction and 0 of the 6 non-fiction books on my list, though I’m currently reading a non-fic that’s not on the list. I will be traveling twice in the next 2 months though, and one of those trips is for work and therefore alone, so I expect to get more reading done then. I also read before bed but try to get extra time in when the kids are watching TV or outside playing, or during lunch at work.
I’m glad that you’ve gotten back into reading. I am doing fine, but I’ll need to look back at my list and see how I’m doing on that front.

I chose to read 6 books, since it was my first challenge. I already have completed 4 completed. At least for the Winter challenge I can list more.
Happy reading folks!
I’m made some progress on my goal. I’ve been going through my list of books to read and have read a few, put a few on hold at the library and deleted some from the list. So far I am down from 192 to 139.
So far, I think I’m doing okay. ♥
I managed to finish two books out of the ten that I listed for the 2009 Fall Into Reading Challenge. I’m also just a few pages short of finishing Catching Fire which will be my third book completed for this series. Already posted my review of The Hunger Games and currently writing my review of Seduce Me at Sunrise and after that Catching Fire.
I might tweak my list a bit because there were two books that I listed that I couldn’t find myself a copy. I have a few days off from work so that should help me progress more in the challenge.
I’ve finished one of my seven. I don’t think I’ll have a problem finishing them all, but I do need to step it up a little!
So far I’ve finished the first book and second books in the Left Behind series and am working on the third one. I only had the first one on my list but had forgotten how much the series can grab you…it’s just too hard to read one and have to wait around to see what will happen to the characters next. I have the whole series so I guess I need to add them to the list. I’m also about a third of the way through Made From Scratch and enjoying it tremendously. I was also able to get Hunger Games from the library. I’m going to have to start that right away because someone else has a hold on it and I only get it for 3 weeks.
I’ve done 5/20 which is good but I probably should have picked fewer books! As we all know other books come along that peak our interest.
I’ve read five of my original fourteen, plus two extras that weren’t on my list. I’ve still been trying to keep up with my personal goal of reading an hour a day, but haven’t really reached consistency with that either…due to out of town guests, a sick kiddo, and terrible headaches. I’m trying to play catch up a bit, and boy does my bed sure miss me.
Happy Fall Reading, y’all!
