Book Giveaway: Blue Like Play Dough by Tricia Goyer

I’m happy to be giving away a great new “motherhood memoir” by Tricia Goyer this week. Read on to learn more…

From the publisher:

BlueLikePlayDoughIn the everyday stretch and squeeze of motherhood, Tricia Goyer often feels smooshed by the demands of life. In Blue Like Play Dough, she shares her unlikely journey from rebellious, pregnant teen to busy wife and mom with big dreams of her own. As her story unfolds, Tricia realizes that God has more in store for her than she has ever imagined possible.

Sure, life is messy and beset by doubts. But God keeps showing up in the most unlikely places–in a bowl of carrot soup, the umpteenth reading of Goodnight Moon, a woe-is me teen drama, or play dough in the hands of a child.

In Tricia’s transparent account, you’ll find understanding, laughter, and strength for your own story. And in the daily push and pull, you’ll learn to recognize the loving hands of God at work in your life… and know He has something beautiful in mind.

My thoughts:

I’ve read several books by Tricia Goyer, so I thought I already knew her story. But in Blue Like Play Dough, Tricia shares about her life, her experiences, her faith, and motherhood in general — in a whole new way.

Honest, engaging, and encouraging, I found Blue Like Play Dough to be a perfect take-along book this summer. Waiting to pick up my son from day camp or sitting in the dentist’s waiting room, I’d read a chapter here and there. The chapters are short and easy to read, and in each one, Tricia shares something oh-so-relatable about motherhood, and reminds us that God loves us and is teaching us and shaping us through every experience.

Being a mom can be a tough job: from the sheer exhaustion of keeping up with kids to the heart-wrenching decisions we’re faced with, to the discouragement we can feel when everything seems to be falling apart. But if we pay attention, we can see God at work in both the big things and the everyday things. And Blue Like Play Dough is one of those books that helps us and reminds us to pay attention and learn to enjoy the journey a little more every day.
