Hi, my name is Katrina, and theoretically, I am a blogger

According to my “blog ideas file,” I have a whopping 62 ideas for blog posts. Yet, as you may have noticed, none of those ideas are turning into actual posts.

C. (10) checks my blog every morning and today he said, “Mom, when are you going to put up another post?” I had no answer for him.

A friend emailed me today, wondering if I’m okay, since there has been no activity here at Callapidder Days.

I have no good excuse. Yes, I’m busy, but so is everyone else. It’s just that time of year.

And I don’t even think it’s so much physical busyness as it is mental overwhelmed-ness that is keeping me from blogging.  My to-do list is about three miles long and it seems I’m continually reviewing it and deciding what comes next. And on top of that, my mind is preoccupied lately with things that are not legitimate blog material.

The bottom line is: There is just not room in my brain for the composing of coherent blog posts at this time.

If I suddenly become inspired, rest assured that I’ll do my best to translate my inspiration into something resembling a post. But if I don’t, expect things to be a bit sparse around here. I have some book giveaways and reviews lined up for the next couple weeks. But I can’t promise anything else.

We can always hope…but I’m just not making promises. :)

In the meantime, here are some links to posts I’ve enjoyed recently, all written by people who are producing content.

Comments

  1. I had to go check out the Inigo Montoya post. Now I’ve got that quote running through my head – “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father . . .” :) Makes me want to pull out the Princess Bride after the kids go to bed tonight. But I really should be reading. I am so far behind. This really is a crazy time of year.

  2. Of course you are blogger! The fact that you are blogging about not blogging demonstrates clearly that you are a blogger.

Now, take your husband (no really take your husband), he has never written a blog post and likely never will; but no one really cares. Why? Well, because he is not a blogger (theoretical or otherwise). See the difference?

So, I will be patient and wait for your next post… whenever you get around to writing it. They are always worth the wait.

Now, get back to that to do list, it won’t take care of itself.:-)

  3. Oh boy, can I relate. Only this year, I’m swinging to the opposite side of the fence. I am watching Christmas approach in disbelief – not having shopped at all (unless you consider the one ebay transaction for Mike’s gift). I finally baked something the other day. I’m considering what Giant Eagle might have already done for me! But I am blogging these days – a retreat from reality perhaps!? Go figure.

  4. I think that must be common at this time of year. Because I’m experiencing the same thing! That’s why I decided to take part in some blog carnivals – someone else does the thinking for me! ;)

And I think I’m going to have to steal your idea of the blog idea file. That is pure genius!

  5. Yeah, I’ve actually had quite a few “great” ideas, but between keeping 5 Minutes for Books up and running and my mandatory posts for 5 Minutes for Mom, my own blog falls behind.

I don’t think anyone is judging you. We just want to be entertained!

  6. Katrina,
I’ve been participating in your fall reading challenge, and I am wondering how is it concluded? Can you please give me some tips. Thanks,
    Sally

  8. =D Yeah, what’s up with you? More blogging, more blogging! We’ll try to be patient.

    THanks for the link up!

  9. Hello, I’m Lisa and I was once a blogger…I think…

Listen, not only do I no longer blog anything of merit, I also no longer seem to visit my friends’ blogs, so I didn’t even know you gave me a shout out! Thanks for the link love and maybe we wsoon ill both find time and words to resume this hobby/obsession/conversation…
