So, how is your fall reading going?
I just realized that the Fall Into Reading 2008 challenge ends in less than a month, and I am not doing very well.
Personally, I’m blaming all the illnesses that have been ravaging our house this fall. When I can’t breathe through my nose and my head is pounding, and the coughs just keep coming, I generally have no energy or motivation to hold a book up in front of my face and attempt to, you know, read the words.
At one point, I tried to convince Chad that his duty as a husband was to put his own book aside and read my Fall Into Reading books to me, but he did not look too thrilled at that prospect. So, instead, I have listened to a couple audiobooks that weren’t on my Fall Into Reading list: The Friday Night Knitting Club and The Millionaires. My iPod is always happy to read to me, and that option has been very convenient.
If you check my original list, you’ll see that I have completed several books (including, amazingly, 3 of my 5 nonfiction books), but I still have a fair amount to go. And did I mention that there’s less than one month left?
But enough about me. How are you doing? [I know a few participants are already done with their lists and I will try not to resent them for that.
]
But what about you? Are you done? Do you predict you’ll be done by December 20th? Did you completely scrap your list and start over?
Share, please.

I have six out of the ten done, but one is 1,463 pages!! I didn’t know it was quite that long when I put it on my list. I hope to finish it on time, but if not, I’ll just keep plowing through.
Sorry for all the sickness! Hope everyone is on the mend.
Hi Katrina,
I’m almost done. I have one more book to go and will have completed my list of books. Nora Roberts new one being released on the 25th. Yeah! There was only one book I couldn’t finish because I just didn’t like the writing.
Hope everyone stays well for the rest of the year.
Robin
I’m not even sure I remember my original list… but I do know I’m not totally following it. Thanks for the reminder!
I’ve read 6 out of my 7, just checked out the last one on my list this weekend so I think I should finish. It’s hard to read when you have little ones at home and something is always going on!
I haven’t put any books on my ipod yet, guess I should check on trying that out!
I have read 44 books and have about 24 left. I keep adding and moving books around. I might never get finished at this point. I never seem to stick to my original list all the way. I bought two new books yesterday I have been waiting to read.
I’m doing really well, guys! In my quest to complete 100 books this year & read 52 books for book-a-week I can put all of these into the Fall into Reading challenge, too! So thanks so much for this challenge & check out my blog — it has a lot of little kid books, also!
I am behind as well. I am still on Remaking. Something always pops up.
I have 2.5 books left on my list.. I know I can finish 1.5 of them in no time.. but the last book I am not sure I will get finished in time. I hope so though!
Yay! For some reason, in my head, I had Nov 20, as the end date and I was bummed that I’m a couple books short. I think I might be able to get them all in by Dec 20 though!
I’m doing well!! I need to check my list, but I’ve read more than I thought I would, including as always — some NOT on my list.
I’m doing fairly well. I’m right on track to finish everything a couple weeks before the deadline. I imagined that once my practicum ended that I would be reading a whole lot more but I’ve decided to add a few other things to try and squeeze in before I get going full time again with student teaching so I’ll probably get just a few extra in.
Good luck on finishing all of your books!
I looked at my list and had already dropped a few off that list but have read a few others. I think I am doing fairly well considering this nasty virus that has eaten up about 10 days of my life. Still time for a good reading recovery.
Hooray for all the book-lovers! You’re brilliant for keeping this up in spite of being ill. You’re like a United States Postal Employee…neither rain, nor snot, not dark of night, will keep you from your appointed books.
I actually finished this challenge! Unfortunately, looks as if I will not finish anything else: other challenges for 2008, NaNoWriMo, or anything else. *sigh*
As I suspected when I posted my list it was overly ambitious as was last years. Not suprising and maybe one of these years I’ll actually be more realistic in my numbers of books.
Regardless I am working away at the books though there are several books to be read and reviewed that weren’t on the original list that I never added in and one I had to delete because I never received it.
All in all I will probably have about 1/3-1/2 of my list crossed off by Dec 20 but am planning on reading many of the remaining books as I can get to them. I will also in reality have read books equal to about 2/3 of the list just not that many that were actually on the list LOL.
I have 7 out of 11 books on my list done. We had a few bad weeks. My oldest was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes and no books got read during that time. I did read one of my books TWICE, does that count? I hope I get through at least 9 of my books…I’ll feel good about that if I do. Who am I kidding? I feel GREAT that I’ve gotten through ALL the books I’ve read this year. If it wasn’t for you, I would still be sitting in front of the boob tube rather than opening up my mind to something more! THANK YOU KATRINA!
