A Farewell

We carefully gutted them….

We lovingly carved them…

We joyfully displayed them for all the world neighborhood to see…

And now?

And now?

And now, alas, we are left with carnage.

Pumpkin carnage.

Apparently, the local wildlife was only willing to admire our designs for so long before being overwhelmed with an intense desire to dismember and mutilate our pumpkins.

Farewell, orange friends.

How very sad. We were so pathetic this year that we didn’t even do the purchasing, gutting or carving. But I do understand your farewell sadness.

I am unable to carve pumpkins any more because I grieve their passing. I also tend to get teary eyed when my Christmas tree goes up in smoke on the burn pile. Yes, Yes, I am a headcase. ;)

I know, the *goodbye to the pumpkins* is always sad to me, too. At least we have the pictures to remember them by though, right?:)

    so sad!

Ours usually just die of frost bite. Although this year, mold got to them before the big day! Next year remind me not to carve so early!

  6. Stacy at Exceedingly Mundane says:

Aww poor things! At least yours were cared for before their untimely demise. Ours sat out front, uncarved and unloved, then sat at the curb for the garbage man :(

An annual tradition that ends so tragically…

We disposed of ours this week.
