Before & After, BooMama Style

I was so glad to read about BooMama’s fantastic new carnival, BooMama’s Before & After.

BooMamaBeforeAfter
It is exactly the kick in the pants gentle encouragement that I needed. Here’s the deal:

The Before and After “bloggy extravaganza” is an opportunity to get a little blogosphere accountability when it comes to household projects. Do you have a room that needs to be painted? A closet that could use some organization? Any other random household projects that you’ve been procrastinating about?

Yeah, me too. I’ve been battling a serious procrastination problem.

Happily, BooMama’s Before & After event is the perfect solution. Just write a post in the next few days, listing your project goals (The Before), and link up to the Mr. Linky on This Post over at BooMama’s. Then, on July 25th, check out BooMama’s again for a place to link up your results (The After).

Here’s my Before Situation:

We recently had half of our basement finished, to create some much needed play and recreational space for us the kids. For a while, I was really on a roll, painting, filling nail holes, organizing toys, etc. But then…I ran out of steam. And thus, many little things down there remain undone. For BooMama’s Before & After, I plan to:

- Paint the bathroom door
- Paint above the shower
- Fill nail holes in bathroom and paint over them
- Touch up paint around the main room
- Choose and acquire a mirror for the bathroom
- Put up some kind of window covering on the singular window down there

I suppose I’ll stop there, so I don’t overwhelm myself. I think the accountability will be great. After all, now that you all know what I plan to do, I have to follow through, right?

Join me in participating in Before & After. Just click the very pretty graphic above to get all the details over at BooMama’s place.

Oh, and just for a little Before & After fun, here are two shots of our basement, pre-finish and post-finish.

You really take the Before and After to new heights with that stunning basement! I was thinking of having a painting party when I decide to paint my bedroom again. It’s got those tall ceilings…well, painting–or any job really–is just so much more fun when it’s done with a group of friends. But painting my bedroom or anywhere else was *not* what I listed on my projects. Sheesh. Sidetracked already.
But I did do 15 minutes on my weeding yesterday and today I got the backing material and batting for the quilt I’ve been “working on” (cutting up jeans is all I got finished) for close to ten years. BooMama’s challenge is just the thing I needed!
BTW, my little ones called caterpillers “callerpiddies”, just a touch different than your cute name. Aren’t our littlies too cute!

Golly, this project’s before and after is amazing and utterly gorgeous! I love seeing these before and afters. It’s so motivating and lets me dream about what I might do…tomorrow or the next day.

  12. Tracey says:

I hope it’s going well! If you’re anything like me, you will be able to truly enjoy your space once you’ve finished all the nit-picky things.

The pictures are great… what a wonderful “new” room! Have a great day! ~:-)
