I try to be fair in my picture-taking. I have two children and I attempt to take pictures of both of them equally. However. C., age 9, does not like having his picture taken. On top of that, I can’t sneak the camera out and snap pictures without him knowing — he almost always catches me. And then promptly runs out of the room. L., age 1, is much more photographable. (And I know that’s not a word.) I mean, he runs more often than he walks, but he is usually either a) oblivious to the camera, b) thrilled to see the camera, or c) trying to grab the camera. All of which allow me to snap many pictures of him.

So if, when the kids are grown, C. complains about all the L. pictures and the dearth of C. pictures, I’ll just have to explain that I tried.

I did get a recent picture of C. (with his full permission). He named the caterpillar “Toothbrush”:
