Fall Into Reading: One-third of the way through

Here it is, October 23rd. That means we have a bit less than two months left in the Fall into Reading challenge. (It also means we only have two months and two days until Christmas, but I’m not quite ready to think about that yet.)

So — how’s everyone doing? Are you working your way diligently through your list? Are you enjoying your books? I hope so.

As for me, well, I have to admit that I’ve been off to a slow start. I’ve only completed one fiction and one non-fiction from my challenge list, which means I’m really going to have to step things up a bit if I intend to finish all these books! I’m blaming it all on the fact that our house has been over-run with germs for the last 6 weeks.

I’m currently about 1/3 of the way through The Book Thief, and (as you can see from my sidebar) I’m reading three — yes, three – nonfiction books right now. I am so bad at sticking to one non-fiction book at a time. The good news is, all three of them are from my list, so at least I’m not being completely irresponsible and reading non-list books. (And I just won’t tell you about the two non-list books sitting on my nightstand that I’m not really reading, but have been glancing through just a wee bit.)

Let us know how your list is coming along… hopefully, you’ve made more progress than I have!

As suspected, I’ve read a good bit off list, but I think I’ve done okay on my list as well. I can’t believe it’s a third of the way through.

I think I’m motoring along pretty good. Hopefully I’ll be through the list and if I do that means I’ll also have met my number goal for the year this year. Yay. Trouble is the more I read the reviews and other’s book lists the longer my To Be Read list grows. And then new titles just keep coming out. I wish I could get a job where I just read all day long. ;v)

I have a confession to make…I haven’t even started reading for this challenge. I know. You’re shocked. I blame it on the R.I.P. II Challenge. I read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell for it, now I’m reading Lord of the Rings. Can I do it by Halloween??? Hopefully. Then, I will move on to this challenge, which I am SOOOO excited about!

Ohh…..I’m not doing well at all. I think that I would actually need to be home in order to read a book. I completely gave up on Sense & Sensibility and am working on To Kill a Mockingbird.

Katrina – I received the Beverly Lewis book yesterday! Thank you again!!!!

I’ve finished five of the thirteen that were on my list. (I actually slipped a six book–not on my list–in). Currently I have one fiction and one non-fiction going. Knowing me I will finish the fiction first. And probably another fiction too.

I’ve had some time in waiting rooms to get some of my reading done, but far too often I am staying up waaaaaaayyy too late because I’ve been to engrossed.

Hope the germs are on the run from your family. But don’t send them here!!

    Blessings,

    Julie

I think I’m right on track on my list…I’ve been working ahead on books because I leave early tomorrow morning for a mission trip to Ecuador and won’t be taking my library books with me. :D

I have read 4 fiction but might have to take some off the list, as things get busier

I’m doing fairly well. I have read most of the books on my list and some extras. I will be posting a review of one of the extras soon.

I’ve finished off over a dozen titles, but I keep getting books in the mail to review…so it feels like I’m not making much progress…and there are actually days when I don’t. want. to. read.

    Imagine that…..

I’m making a little progress on mine but I bet my list wasn’t as long as yours! And you’ve had sick kids and kids to take care of etc…I don’t have those excuses! I have been at my daughter’s helping out for 2 weeks and that slowed my reading way down; I don’t know how you moms do everything you do and blog!

    Robin says:

I have finished half of the books, but keep putting off the non fiction ones for some reason. I also keep adding more fiction. Just went to Bereans on Sunday and found three more to buy and read. Don’t think I will put them on the list though. November will be a lite reading month since I am doing the novel writing challenge. But, I will prevail and read all on my list. Maybe I’ll just quietly drop a couple non fiction ones since seem to have lost interest in reading them. If I substitute fiction for nonfiction, that counts right. Hmmm! Now I just have to write my reviews.

Opps, correction, I’ve read 11 of the 20 books I listed. I probably would have been closer to the end of the list by now but the last 6 books I’ve read were not on the list. :)

i’ve read 15 books off my list…and then i’ve read about 10 books that are NOT on my list. lol..only 20 more to go

I have 12 books on my list. And I’ve only finished ONE! WAHH!!

I keep getting sidetracked with OTHER books that aren’t on my list, so I might just need to adjust my list. ;)

I have finished 5 out of 13. Not too bad, but I was really hoping to add more books, but I seem to have entered a blah moment for reading. I haven’t touched a book besides my Bible in almost a week. lol I’m sure it will pick up again soon. lol

I have finished four books…3 on my list and one that was not. I am in the middle of two or three…can’t remember. I have purchased some (even though I said I was going to read my library)…so that is my update, oh, and I have some reviews up.

    Melody says:

Well, I started about two weeks later than everybody else and I only put 5 or 6 books on my list because I am a full-time student and I am excited to read anything besides text books. Anyway, I have completed one and am almost finished with my second one. That leaves me with three. So, if I finish two in November and the massive novel in December I will have read all the books on my list. Maybe next time I will add more.

    Nise' says:

Doing great on the fiction books. Started one of the four non fiction books on my list. I keep adding on books waiting for the ones on my list to be available at the Library.

I’m not doing too badly except I think I did put a few too many chunksters on my list. I may have to do some switching out.

Didn’t much care for The Book Thief. It sounded good, as most of the Zusak does, but couldn’t get into it. Maybe for older students?
