More than you ever wanted to know about me

Some very nice bloggers have been tagging me for memes and I keep falling further and further behind in responding to them. But this week, I’m going to try to catch up. And that means you all are going to have to put up with learning more about me that you ever asked or wanted to know, since the memes I’ve been tagged for all involve sharing random stuff about myself.

Today, I’ll start with the 7 Things About Me meme. I was tagged for this meme by both Jana and Dianne.

1. I like magazines. A lot. I have a handful (maybe 2) of subscriptions and I’ve been known to pick up an occasional magazine at the grocery store, too. My problem is that I fall way behind on reading them all. I have a nice basket next to the sofa where I put them, but oftentimes the pile grows well beyond the bounds of the basket and balances precariously until I finally set aside some time to go through a bunch of them at once.

2. I’ve been known to eat cereal for dinner quite often. And I get on cereal kicks where I eat the same kind for months and months. My current cereal of choice is Vanilla Creme Frosted Mini Wheats.

3. When shopping for furniture, my key consideration is, “Is it comfortable?” Color, style, manufacturer, everything comes after comfort. I like cushy couches, comfy chairs, and side tables that provide adequate storage and space.

4. Speaking of home decor, we recently replaced the area rug in our family room. How did we choose the color? We were looking for the one that would best disguise cat puke stains. Pathetic, I know, but when you have a cat that pukes as much as ours does, you’ve got to take that into consideration.

5. One of my current hobbies is spying on the robin’s nest that resides in a shrub right outside our front door.

6. When I’m stressed out, I do Sudoku to distract myself from whatever has me stressed. I’ve been doing quite a bit of Sudoku lately!

7. When I was in 4th grade, in lieu of a class play, our class decided to do a weird dance-routine-type thing to the song Mr. Roboto. Raise your hand if you remember that song. I don’t know how that came about, whose idea it was, or who choreographed the whole thing, but I have very clear memories of me and my 9-year-old classmates acting an awful lot like robots.

There you have it: 7 things about me. Stay tuned for even more exciting insights into my mind and life later this week.

I just got tagged last week and posted my 8 random things. Getting tagged is surprisingly a lot of work!

I love the picture of the eggs? Is that the actual nest outside your door?

    Jana says:

    Thanks for playing along!

I can relate to the basket/pile of magazines; I have several months of Southern Living and Better Homes and Gardens residing in a basket under my bed right now.

The robin’s eggs are beautiful. How neat to have them close enough to watch.

I hear you about falling behind – right now I’m actually keeping a running list of the people who’ve tagged me for this meme. I’m thinking I need to just hurry up and get it posted! But thinks have been a little nuts around my house for the last week or so.

I also hear you about the cat puke. I even changed my cat’s food to a beige food so the stains were easier to deal with. Beige food. LOL

    Heidi says:

Those robin’s eggs are just beautiful!

I also am guilty of eating cereal at non traditional times of day.

    Kathleen aka Coffee Mom says:

The magazines I get, the cat puke I get, Mr Robot I get, and cereal I get. My current fave is Special K Chocolately Crunch. Wow, it’s like tiny chocolate bars for breakfast and really what could be better then that?

    Robin says:

I got tagged last week for 8 random things – you can read them on my blog.
I love magazines too – and it’s almost painful to throw them away. I keep thinking I’m going to get organized someday and file all the articles I want to keep. Problem is, when I look back at old issues, I can’t remember why I was keeping it!

    Bookfool says:

The robin-egg photo is awesome!! And, I’m right with you on the cat puke. We’re slowly replacing our carpeting with hardwood and I like the fact that it’s easy to wipe up. :)

    Becky says:

Cereal … Kashi. I love it when my Butler is out of town and I can eat cereal (dry please) for supper. I also eat it every morning for breakfast. I’m a barrel of fun!

We have a nest we are watching too, right outside our kitchen nook. House wren … 5 eggs at last count. Your robin’s nest is amazing. I have never seen such a blue color of blue if you know what I mean.

We had the same issue with a cat that coughed *puked* hairballs up several times a week. We choose our cat’s food based on color.

Tan carpet = tan cat food

We used to feed him food that was red in color and soon stopped and began looking for alternative colored cat food.

    Very interesting and I LOVE #4 :)

    Katrina says:

Sally – yep, that’s the actual nest. I snuck a peek today and the eggs haven’t hatched yet. Mrs. Robin has been carefully guarding them, though.

I’m sorry so many of you also have pukey cats, but I suppose it’s nice to know we’re not the only ones. :)

  15. 15
    Dianne says:

I can relate about the cat puke too. Kelly blessed me in such a way this morning, I think as revenge. Mike was away and she was oh so ornery!

I love LOVE the robin’s nest – oh so cool!!!

Thanks for doing the meme – always enjoy learning more about you.

    Ann Kroeker says:

I just did that meme, too!

Comfortable furniture, comfortable clothes…comfort is always my priority, too.

    Cereal for dinner…mmmmm….

Also, we share the magazine thing–both the love of them, and the tendency to let them pile up and read en masse.

Very fun to read what we have in common. I must say, I’m glad I don’t have a puky cat.

  17. 17
    Kim says:

Your list was fun to read. I hate it that you’ve been stressed lately! I play Mahjong when I’m stressed.

    Have a super week!

    angeleyes Blue says:

SALT–That should do it. SALT. Pour table salt on the cat puke and let the salt absorb it up. When the salt is dry then vacuum it up. Salt works with any spills Grape juice, Orange juice, Wine.

Sorry you are stressed. Just keep telling yourself to relax and that it ia already tomorrow in Australia.

A joke: from Calvin and Hobbs–

TEACHER: Suzi you wrote down Letter B as your answer for #1. Calvin you also wrote down Letter B for your answer for #1.

Suzi for # 2 you wrote Letter C. Calvin for # 2 you also wrote Letter C.

Suzi for #3 you wrote down I don’t know. Calvin for #3 you wrote me either.

Katrina enjoy today :) Spring is here and the birds are singing.

Still laughing mother of TWO TEENAGERS :)
