Welcome, everyone! Are you ready to read? Do you have your list? Great, let’s go!
I can’t wait to see what everyone will be reading this spring. Whether you’re reading for fun, for inspiration, for learning, or just to force yourself to finish up those half-read books, I hope you enjoy every page!
Here’s a brief recap of how to be a part of the Spring Reading Thing:
Make a list of books you want to read (or finish reading) this spring. Your list can be as long or as short as you’d like.
Write a blog post containing your list and submit it to this post using the Mr. Linky below.
Get reading! The challenge goes from today, March 21st, through June 21st.
Check out other participants’ lists and add to your own to-read-someday pile!
If you’re so inclined, write reviews of the books you read along the way.
Write a post about your challenge experience in June, telling us all about whether you reached your goals and how the Spring Reading Thing went for you.
There’s a Mr. Linky at the end of this post. Please use it to link to your blog post containing your Spring Reading Thing list. Remember to link to your specific post, not just your general blog homepage. People will be stopping by for days (or weeks!) and when you link to your specific post, it will make it easier for everyone to find your reading list. Also, if you don’t mind, please link back here from your post so that your readers can come check out all the other participants.
So post your list, and then grab your coffee (or tea, if you’re so inclined) and enjoy all the book-love!
Prize Information:
Don’t forget, I’ll be choosing one random participant at the end of the challenge to receive a $10 gift certificate to Amazon.com. To be eligible, you need to post your initial reading list (and sign up on the Mr. Linky) by midnight (EST) on Saturday, March 24th, and post a recap of your Spring Reading Thing experience (and link up) by midnight on June 24th.
Note: There is NO limit to when people can sign up to participate in the Spring Reading Thing. You’re welcome to join in any time! The “deadlines” are only for prize eligibility.
Also, I’ll be giving away two books during the Spring Reading Thing. Those books are: So Many Books, So Little Time by Sara Nelson and How Reading Changed My Life by Anna Quindlen. Here’s how to be eligible for one of those books:
- If you post any book review(s) on your blog about the books you’re reading for the Spring Reading Thing, let me know by leaving a comment on my blog or by emailing me (just click the “Email Me” link on my sidebar).
- I’ll periodically put up a post including links to the Spring Reading Thing book reviews that are submitted to me.
- Twice during the Spring Reading Thing, I’ll randomly draw the name of one participant who has submitted a review. They win the books!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Okay, now, enough of my babbling. Spring officially arrived here last night, so it’s time to get reading! Enjoy your books, everyone!

Thanks for hosting this! And thanks for coming by my list earlier.
I am so busy looking at everyone’s lists that I’m not going to have time to finish my own! My list is definitely still a work in progress.

I just posted the link to my reading challenge. I found you via Missy at Everyday Graces and Dishpan Dribble. Thank you for hosting this challenge. The button is lovely.
Dragging the chain here – but my books are picked and I have lifted the first one off the shelf (If Ever I return) where it has lived for over 4 years – brushed the dust off it and given it a little hug and placed it on the table beside my bed. I am sure the little book is smiling now
Thank you so much for doing this! I’m giddy excited about the whole thing…just the incentive I needed!
Happy Spring!
Thanks for hosting. I am looking forward to this challenge!

I love a challange, and I love reading even more. I’m off to put up the challange on my site!
What a wonderful challenge. My list is on my sidebar. I think it needs updating though. Hugs!
I’ve signed up for the challenge but I have a lock on my block so unfortunately most people won’t be able to see my list. So, I’m posting it here in the comment section:
Reforming Marriage by Douglas Wilson
Parenting with Love & Logic by Foster Cline and Jim Fay
The Fruit of Her Hands by Nancy Wilson
Forever by Karen Kingsbury
On Becoming Toddlerwise by Gary Ezzo
Secrets of the Baby Whisperer for Toddlers by Tracy Hogg
Praise Her In The Gates by Nancy Wilson
Oops, I meant I have a lock on my blog!
Great idea, Katrina. Thanks for hosting this – I’ve found some interesting books to read through your other readers, and I’m looking forward to my spring reading list!
Wow…more book giveaways, can’t wait to hear the details! BTW, I’m only pages away from finishing my first book. Thanks again for hosting this. It’s sad that I’ve been so busy to need these types of incentives to do what I already love so much.
This looks fun. I love to read and to share it with others is even better!!!! Thanks for doing this!!!
I am new to blogging and I love to read, so I am in! I look forward to seeing some reviews so I can look for more good books to read.
I am excited about this challenge. Thanks for hosting it!

I wish I had time to do this. I love the idea. however homeschooling 4 little ones while taking two college classes is about all I can handle at the moment.
How fun! This is my first attempt at participating in something like this in Blogger-world.
I am so glad to have found this site…..Thank You for posting and hosting.
We are a Homeschool family living in Virginia…..I haev been in search of all the support I can find, especially from other Christian Moms.
I’m in! I have non-fiction, fiction and some children’s books posted all linked to Amazon reviews.
I’m going to have fun over the next little while, browsing all these other reading lists!!
This is the first time I am trying anything like this. So, here it goes.
Katrina — Sorry to be a pain in the butt, but I’ve moved my Challenge list to a new blog (one that DOESN’T have restricted access)… so could you somehow remove my other link on the Mr.Linky (#108)… my NEW one is #125… I’m now over at the “Solely Books” blog.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Good heavens! Look at all the participants! Wow!
I’m late to the party and boy! what a crowd! Can’t wait to mingle.
Running a little behind, but I got my post and list up! Thanks for doing this… it will be fun!
Made my post and will be working on the list today!
It’s been a long time since I set reading goals for myself; looking forward to the challenge. I’m also looking forward to finding new recommendations on others’ lists. Thanks for hosting!
I’m also excited to get going and actually have a plan on what I want to read and read to my boys.
I’m in. Just saw this challenge on another blog. Sounds like fun.
I’m in. I love to read. I hope it is okay that I used your graphic on my post. Let me know if it isn’t.
Carol
Katrina, Does Chad get the prize for number of participants? I think you deserve a prize for the interest shown. You do a great job with your blog. Mom
Just wanted to let everyone know that I’ve posted the review for the first book on my Spring Reading list. I’ve created a on-going post on my blog where I’ll be updating with future reviews as I finish each book on my list. Hope you find it helpful and maybe I’ll convince you to pick up a book you might not have considered before!
Happy reading everyone!
I may be coming in under the wire, but I loved the Fall reading one, and am so happy to be a part of Spring!
Thank you for organizing this!
I’m in! Er, am I the only guy doing this??? Ha! I don’t care. I like to read!
This is my first reading challenge and I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for sponsoring!
I left a second entry with a direct link to the reading challenge because I failed to do that the first time. Sorry
Ellen B.
Hi,
Thanks, it helps me read even more.
Thanks for hosting Spring Reading Thing – now I’m accountable to SOMEONE to work on that ever growing list of mine!
Right! Someone to be accountable to. I posted four books. When I went to my shelves I realized that now I’d have to dust. Ok, I am ready to begin.
This sounds like fun. I’m sure my boy is going to like it.
I’m in. Three days late, but I’m still in.
I decided to join up! Now maybe I’ll read those books that I “keep meaning to get to.”
Kristin
Thanks for doing this. Sounds like fun and is just the motivation I need to get reading.
Better late than never. Thanks for doing this!
I’m excited to be a part of the reading challenge.
I hope I do better actually reading the books on my list this time than I did in the fall. Wish me luck
My overly ambitious list is up. We’ll see how I actually do.
I just can’t believe I missed the deadline. I thought I had until Sunday, not Saturday. Does the fact that it’s not midnight (just barely) here in CA count. Please?
OMG i totally forgot about this thing and i missed the deadline for the GC. oh well.. i have too many books as it is…here’s my list!
All excited about the Thing and I managed to forget to post my link! I’m starting out modestly this time.
Thanks for the idea!
I too missed the deadline. My list is up and I’ll update it over the next few months.
I started my list. Thanks for the great idea and accountability! I look forward to seeing what others are reading.
My list is up and I’ll start one of the books later this week. Thanks for the challenge!
I’m in….sorta. Just trying to document all that I read!!

Rachel Langston
My list is rather lofty – but, will enjoy how far I manage to get. So excited as I received an email this morning that Amazon had shipped. Thank you for hosting!
Oh man! I have a ton of books I’m reading and writing reviews on. I’m not sure I could squeeze a piece of paper between books this Spring. Darn!
I have linked up. I think this will be real fun! Thank you so much for hosting this shindig!!
God Bless~
Karen
WOW – that is a HUGE linky!!! So GREAT that so many are participating!

I can’t wait to start crossing off books on my list. I am a former bookstore manager and just love, love, love to read books. The main thing I miss about being at the bookstore is hearing feedback from others on the books they are reading. Thanks for providing links to others on this challenge so that we can get a glimpse of each others lists. This is fun!
This is going great. Amazing number of people here. I’ve posted some reviews of my first three books – the next ones may take a while longer.
Great job to everyone.
While I found out about the challenge too late to join for prizes, I had to join for the sheer fun of reading more books in my TBR mountain!
I posted my first review here: http://plainssong.blogspot.com/2007/03/almost-french.html
Well, I found out about this much too late for prizes, but I had to join in anyway.
I have quite the list, I hope I can at least put a chunk in it.
Hi hi… Here’s my first book review for my SRT featuring a book by Kermit T. Frog! Good luck to all of you too
What a great idea! I’m so glad I found this – and I’m loving the rest of your blog, too!
I finally got my list together and posted!
Thanks for hosting!
~Jada
Here’s a second book review from me!
Happy reading, everyone!…
I’m adding reviews, three so far, linked to my main post of books – I’m number 95 on the list. I’m almost half done. woo hoo.
I’m really excited about this!!
Getting a late start but I’m pumped! Yay books!
I’m late too, but glad to get started! Thanks for the push!
Whoo Hoo!!! This is going to be so fun! I’ve posted my list and I can’t wait to get started.

Hi there! We’re a little late getting started, but I signed Mr. Linky and we’re posting about Spring Reading Thing on Monday along with our lists! We are SO excited. Thanks for doing this!
Oh, I thought I was too late, but I’m joining anyway!
I posted two book reviews from my list, The Book of Lights by Chaim Potok and The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan.
I’m really excited about joining the Spring Reading Thing. Hopefully I’m able to finish everything on my list, or at least add to my least after I see what everyone else in reading.
Thanks for starting this “thing.” (I’m new to blogging, so I hope I linked up everything okay…)
I love this idea! I’m getting started late but better late than never, I always say!
I’ve come to this late also. Read about the Spring Reading Thingie over at Brandilyn Collins’ blog. I want to be a part. Now to generate that list …
Becky
I finished two books so far on my list – The Minotaur Takes a Cigarette Break and Sleep Toward Heaven. You can read my comments on my blog, Enough to Read.
looking forward to the challenge! By the way, what is the last day of spring?
Hi Otter, I think the last official day of spring is June 20th, so I figured we can post our wrap-ups around the 21st (and if we’re finishing up a few more pages, that’s fine too!).
I’m late to jump on this reading wagon – but here goes! I love to read and I think this will be lots of fun!
Hi all,
Here’s my 4th review on The Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude by Jeffrey Gitomer.
Happy Reading, everyone!
Just wondering if it is too late to hop on board? I am coming to the end of a semester and will have bit more time to read over the coming weeks. Thanks!!! I can get a post up by the end of this week if I can still join.
Leann, Yes, please join in! We’d love to have you!
I just discovered your challenge and want to add my name to your list. I’m going to add my own list to the lists I have at http://www.listsofbests.com ASAP. This is a great idea — thanks for opening it to everyone!
starting late, but eager to embrace the challenge
it will serve as good motivation to also write some “reviews” about the books! thanks katrina.
I may be late in starting, but I am excited!! Thanks for doing this.
I feel like I’ve stumbled across something wonderful. Just now discovering your blog (and many wonderful others) and I’m really excited about starting the Spring Reading Thing. Thanks for the motivation!
Thanks so much for the awesome graphic. I’d begun a personal spring challenge but THIS is adding life to my “list”.
I enjoyed looking around your blog.
Thanks so much! One of my goals was to read more this year. Your challenge gives me a better opportunity to do that.
better late than never, right?
Two more finished! Jackdaws by Ken Follett and The Visitor by Sheri S. Tepper. You can see my comments on my blog, Enough to Read.
Happy to have come across your blog. I hope I get to read the books I’ve chosen before June 21st. Have a great day!
Okay – I posted my first review. In honor of my blog being called Robinznest – I am awarding my books the prestigious award – THE EGG-Y. Stop by and see how my rating system is going!
Now this is fun! Plus I feel like I’ve got a head start. I took me so long to put together my list and find time to post it that I’ve already finshed some of the books on my list.
Good luck to y’all!
I don’t know how to link in comments! ACK. Well my discussion of A BIGGER LIFE by Annette Smith is up at my blog, 4/18/07.
Is this where we tell you a review is up? Thanks
Joining in a bit late! I just saw your challenge on another blog and thought “why not?” lol
Happy Thursday!

Hello! What a fun challenge. I’m kinda late getting started (I just learned about this this evening), but better late than never, right? Looking forward to an exciting time with this!
me too jocelyn! I just posted my link with my list.
Oh I love to read!! I read all the time. This will be fun! Thanks bunches!! Blessings!!
I’ve been so busy I keep forgetting to stop in and give you a progress update! I’m doing about as I expected around this time. I’ve finished reading 4 books and so am half way through my list. I’m working on my 5th one now. This challenge helped me map out my spring reading, which is proving to be very helpful with all these other challenges I’ve gotten myself into.
Thanks Katrina!
I just realized I must have thought I officially signed up for the challenge, and I didn’t! I couldn’t find my blog up there anywhere, so I just added it to the participant list.
I’m progressing pretty well – I have two more books out of five left to read. All the updates and reviews are on my blog. – Alisia
Finished four more books:
Robert Ferrigno. Dead Silent
Pat Cadigan. Tea from an Empty Cup
Joan Clark. An Audience of Chairs
John Le Carre. A Perfect Spy
I added links to the Spring Thing Reading Reviews page.
Now reading The Angel of Darkness by Caleb Carr.
I never formally signed up! I indicated I was “in” on your intro post.
Sorry for the confusion and thanks for hosting!
Hi Katrina and everyone! I have officially completed all the books I listed for the Challenge. There were quite a few I read outside the challenge too.
The final review for A Whole New Mind can be found here. Happy reading!
*sigh* I think I’ll end up finishing four of the six, with two of them still in process…I ended up on a challenge glut and now I’m almost challenge-maxed out!
I have finished the last book on my list. I’ll have all the reviews written and posted before June 21st.
I was too busy last spring, thus, I couldn’t read much. I prefer to slug on the beach and read an interesting book. Now I’m learning russian hard and try to read russian books. For example, my currently book is (Ugh!) Heart of a Dog by Mikhail Bulgakov
Thanks for the nice post!
