I almost can’t believe how fast this Fall has gone! But then I look at the stack of books that I’ve finished and it seems much more real. I don’t know about you, but having this challenge has really helped me accomplish some reading goals and maintain discipline in my reading (especially when it comes to non-fiction!).
Two weeks from today – December 21, 2006 – is the last day of Fall, and so will be the last day of the Fall Into Reading Challenge. From all I’ve read, it looks like all you dedicated readers have been doing a great job tackling your lists. But if you haven’t quite accomplished all you’d like to, you still have two more weeks. So get reading!
I know that this time of year is crazy, and if your schedule is anything like mine, your calendars are almost solid with ink for the next several weeks. But be sure to set aside a little time here and there to curl up with a good book – it’s worth it!
On December 21st, I’ll put up another Mr. Linky. I’d love for everyone to submit a link to a post on your blog, telling about your experience in the Fall Into Reading Challenge. Some things I’d love to know:
- The best book you read this Fall
- The book you could have lived without
- Whether or not you read more than you would have without the challenge
- The best thing about joining in the challenge
- If you discovered (and enjoyed) a new book or author after reading someone else’s list
- Any other insights, enjoyments, thoughts, or impressions!
(As far as the prize goes, if you posted your original Fall Into Reading Challenge post by September 24th, and if you post your “update post” by December 24th (you have until midnight) — and entered them on the Mr. Linkies here, of course, you’ll be eligible for the Amazon.com gift certificate.)
I’ve had a few people ask me if there will be a Winter Reading Challenge. I’m sure everyone’s busy with the holidays and we could all use a little breather. Not that we’ll stop reading or anything – we could never do that! But let’s just leisurely enjoy whatever reading we get in this Winter and then think about a Spring challenge.
Okay, enough blog reading – get back to your books. Fourteen days and counting!

Ah the stress. I am not going to get all on my list read, but I did get MOST of them read =) I will be posting my results. Thank you so much for hosting this.
I’m right there with Laurel Wreath. Not all, but more than I would have. And thank you for no challenge til Spring. Spring sounds doable, another challenge of ANY type right now and we might all keel over!
This was fun. I like your questions a lot, and I hope people sort of follow that pattern. Those will be interesting to read.
I’m glad you gave us guidelines for the final post on this. I haven’t posted a single thing about the challenge since I started it and didn’t have a clue where to start so I’ll follow your plan.
I just noticed your Flikr box – what cute photos!
I love the ideas for the last post! I have to admit the last week I have not picked up a book once it’s been so insane but I’m planning on getting a least one more finished!
Eeek. I can’t focus on the list long enough to finish it! I get too distracted by other great books.
Well, I’ve only gotten through one of my books on the list. Some of them might end up on the Spring challenge list. Olyvia will be older and maybe not in need of so much attention. But she’ll probably be walking by then, so I don’t know. lol
Have a great day.
I’ve been reading the book of Job. With all the emphasis on suffering (in the preaching I’ve heard on this book), I never noticed the poetry… pure and deep.
Happy reading to you, as you do your Fall challenge.
i’ve got about 100 more pages in the last book from my list to go. i’ve also read a WHOLE bunch more that weren’t on my original list…
I think I’ll make it. I acutally added a couple of books. I have one and a half to go (but they’re long). READ, READ, READ!!!
Oh dear. I don’t think I can do any marathon reading this close to Christmas…but I will try to get in a little more in the next two weeks…promise!
Just stopping by to say “Happy Weekend”.
Hey Katrina,
I guess the good thing is that it’s called a “challenge” and not a “grade” because I’m sure behind! But it’s been fun. I’ll see what kind of midnight oil I can burn here!
