Famous in my own lunchtime

I’ve been tagged by Blest for the “Famous in my own lunchtime” meme, started by Catez.

And so…

1. What do you like most about where you live?

Probably the fact that we are only about 10-20 minutes from all my “needed amenities” — such as Panera, Barnes & Noble, Target, etc., about 45-60 minutes from the features a large city has to offer (professional sporting events, plays/musicals, nice zoo, etc.), but we live in a very quiet area. About 2 minutes from our house there are farms, baby cows in the spring…all the beauty of rural living. It feels like the perfect location.

2. Is there anything strange about where you live?

Okay, this is about the particular location of our house, rather than the area where we live. Hope that’s okay.

Our house is in a wind tunnel. The sellers neglected to inform us of that fact when we were looking at it, and we blissfully moved in, unaware that I would spend many a Friday at 2 a.m. going outside to gather garbage cans that had blown down the road and cardboard boxes that had been carried across to yonder yard, when an unexpected wind rose up and took aim directly at the end of our driveway. If you go down the road a bit, or up the road a bit, you find yourself in calm territory, but our little swath is targeted by fierce winds. Usually on garbage night.

3. What’s one of your all-time favorite music albums, and why?

You know how hearing a song from years ago can instantly take you back to when that song featured prominently in your life? That’s how I feel about Petra’s Beyond Belief album. Any song from Beyond Belief transports me back to my freshman year of college. That year, I met the man who was to become my husband, I made some of the best friends I will ever have, and God got hold of my heart in a life-changing way. And somehow, Beyond Belief served as the soundtrack for that time. I would listen to it as I stayed up late writing papers (at the last minute of course) or while I walked around “the Circle” on cool evenings. Good days. So while I might not have enough musical knowledge to comment on harmonies, percussion, or bridges, I can tell you that that particular album brings back a flood of great memories. That makes it one of my all-time favorites!

4. Did you have a passion for something as a kid that you still have now? (If not – what is one of your passions now?)

There are several, but the biggest is, without a doubt, reading and a love of words. As a child, I would read the back of the cereal box every single morning because, for some reason, at our house it was “bad manners” to bring a book to the table, but staring at the cereal box was okay. Today, I still read cereal boxes…along with anything and everything else.

5. What do you like most about having a blog?

Hmmm… this is a tough one. It’s probably a tie between the “forced accountability” to write on a regular basis and the wonderful community of bloggers that I’ve become a part of.

What a great meme. Yes, I’m interested! I’m working on mine. It will be up later today. I loved your answers. It sounds like you do live in a great spot, and I also love those “soundtracks” of our lives kind of albums. I’m going to really have to think on my answer to that one.

That’s pretty weird, your house being the only spot in that area that gets the wind. And I hear you about books. Now that you mention it, it is strange that reading cereal boxes was OK but bringing a book to the table wasn’t. The only place I don’t take books now is the shower and that’s only because I can’t see the type through the ziplock bag.

Ah, where you live sounds perfect! Close enough to the important stuff, but surrounded by tranquility. Albeit windy tranquility! ;-)

The wind tunnel is important so I can work on my aerodynamic position on the bicycle.

If the winds are especially strong on garbage night, does that mean that whoever controls the wind has it in for your neighborhood? :o )

I know someone else that read cereal boxes…because her mother didn’t allow her to “read at the table?” What’s wrong with this picture?
I have been tagged also and as soon as I get my act together with my blog….I will reply….but hopefully not at 4:15am.
