Everyday Jeans

“…For I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”

soft beds and buttermilk…”– Augustus McCrae-”Lonesome Dove”

The everyday thing that I’m celebrating this week is:

Jeans

I love jeans. Love. Them.

Capris are okay, denim ones are better, but there is something so comfy and relaxing about wearing jeans. I wear them every day of the week, as soon as the temperatures drop to fall-like numbers. Paired with an old sweatshirt or a new sweater, it doesn’t matter – you’ll find me in jeans from September to May.

My husband pretty much lives in jeans, too. Which makes us wonder: is C. really our child? He prefers “dress pants” – khakis, specifically. And tucked-in shirts. With collars. And buttons. Too bad for him, I do the clothes shopping in this house. So he ends up stuck with a drawer full of jeans and casual shirts. He doesn’t complain, but he does look forward to Sunday, when I “allow” him to wear a “nice” outfit. Meanwhile, I put on my denim skirt – and change back into jeans as soon as we get home from church.

I will not, however, be embracing the new (old) skinny jean fad. I went through that once. In high school. (I even had the “way cool” jeans with zippers at the bottom [so they could get really skinny] and the heart-shaped lace cut-outs on the calves.) That was fine for a teenager in the 80′s. But, in an effort to not scare the neighborhood children by the sight of me in something that should never, ever adorn these 30-something legs, I’ll stick to my slightly flared Levis.

And I’ll continue to enjoy my everyday (literally!) jeans.

Nope no skinny jeans here, but if I could live in jeans I would. I love fall/winter just for that fact!!

  2. Christine says:

Yeah, I need some new jeans. Thanks for the reminder!

  3. Susanne says:

Can you believe I went thru a phase in the ’80′s where I didn’t own a pair of jeans for about 10 years? Now I can’t live without them. Not like my oldest girl though, who has about 10 pairs! :v) I live with my 2.

  4. Jennifer says:

Yeah, I’m a jeans girl myself, although I also like shorts, denim ones especially. My biggest concession to fashion, and diversifying my wardrobe is to buy a pair of “nice jeans,” that I can pair with a belt (because I am usually a non-belt wearing kind of person), and a shirt, other than a T-shirt knit.

  5. Nikkie says:

I’m a jeans junkie myself too. I really disliked skinny jeans back in the day and I really ate them now!

  6. Dianne says:

I need new jeans. I love my jeans. Still making up for a 20 year deficit of not wearing them. I’m getting them in every color so I can sneak by wearing them to work! BUT – I don’t get the boot cut thing. As long as they fit me right, I don’t care what style they are.

  7. Heather says:

I hated jeans in high school and jr. high. I wouldn’t touch them. Now I realize it was because I hated tight things, especially since as a dancer (I still did Ballet,Jazz, and Dance Squad) my thighs were way to big to be comfortable in “regualr” jeans. My praise is for Lycra. Jeans still don’t fit me right, even the nice loose ones, without Lycra. They are either too big in the waste or too tight in the thigh. :)

  8. Barb says:

You and me both! I love my jeans. For me, it’s Gap straight leg boot cut. At the Gap outlet, not the Gap store. Lots cheaper.

  9. Anonymous says:

I love jeans, but here in Hawaii we only have summer so I miss weasring them, but I have saved all mine for when I someday go back to the mainland.
    Christina all that blog

  10. Chappyswife says:

Yeah, that skinny jean thing is just ridiculous. I won’t be getting into that either. I’ll spare you the details!
